Bhubaneswar: To streamline citizen services and market operations, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched two digital platforms modernising urban governance.
The civic body on Wednesday signed an MoU with the IndusInd Bank and PeLocal Fintech Private limited for ‘Bhubaneswar’s Whatsapp Chatbot’ that would allow residents to pay property taxes, trade licence fees, user fees for services like birth and death certificates and access various municipal services through their smartphones.
The initiative would eliminate the need for visits to municipal offices as residents can now process payments and submit grievances using a dedicated WhatsApp number.
A Market/Vending Zone Rental Collection Application was also launched on the occasion. The application, developed by Emer RND Solutions Pvt Limited, will help BMC to strengthen revenue collection from markets. The platform provides real-time payment tracking and enhances financial transparency while focussing on automating rental collections from city markets and vending zones.
