Now, Child Rights Body Issues Advisory To Diljit Dosanjh Ahead Of His Dil-Luminati Concert In Chandigarh

New Delhi: It seems the stars are not aligned in favour of Punjabi rapper Diljit Dosanjh and his musical Dil-Luminati concerts across the states.

After the restrictions imposed by Telangana government during his Hyderabad concert, the singer has now received an advisory from the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights ahead of his concert in the north Indian city.

The Child Rights body has asked Diljit to avoid singing songs such as ‘Patiala Peg’ which “promote” alcohol, drugs and violence and “affect” children.

“Avoid performing songs like ‘Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case’ even with twisted words in which alcohol, drugs and violence are promoted. These songs affect the children of impressionable age,” the child rights body said in an advisory on Wednesday.

The Commission has also advised the singer not to invite children on stage during the live show as the peak sound pressure level is above 120db, which is “harmful” for children.

The Commission further advised organisers to abstain from serving alcohol to people below the age of 25 as it is a punishable offence as per the law in Haryana and Punjab.

Shipra Bansal, chairperson of the Commission, said that it has been brought to their notice that children were called on stage during live shows.

“Sometimes some songs are played which are not good for children,” the chairperson told ANI.

Diljit will be performing in Chandigarh on December 14.

Last month, Diljit had challenged authorities across the country to ban liquor.

“You close liquor shops across the country, I will stop singing songs on alcohol,” said the singer.

“Let’s start a movement. If all states declare themselves as dry state, from the next day, Diljit Dosanjh will stop singing songs about alcohol in live concerts. There’s another offer. Declare dry day in whichever place I perform, I won’t sing songs about alcohol,” he said.
