Keonjhar: In less than a week, another minor girl, studying in a residential school, has been found pregnant in Odisha.
The latest incident has been reported from an Ashram school at Champua area in Odisha’s Keonjhar and involves a Class 6 girl student.
According to sources, the girl had visited her native place during Makar Sankranti holiday in January this year. After returning to school, the ANM found that she had missed her monthly menstrual cycle during a regular health check-up and reported the matter to the headmaster of the school. Thereafter, a pregnancy test was conducted at district headquarters hospital here and the report was found positive.
The district administration officials then visited the school and asked the headmaster to report the matter to police.
Sources further stated that the girl student confessed before the hostel matron that she had a physical relationship with her maternal uncle, which might have led to her pregnancy.
On Monday, a Class-X student delivered a baby on the hostel rooftop of a ST & SC Development department-run residential girls’ high school in Malkangiri’s Chitrakonda She developed labour pain after appearing for her English paper in the HSC Examination.
Two days later, a 15-year-old student, repeatedly raped by his 25-year-old neighbour, gave birth to a baby girl in Odisha’s Jajpur on the eve of her Class X math paper. She was rushed to a community health centre after complaining of severe abdominal pain.
Police have detained the 25-year-old accused and booked him under Pocso Act.
