New Delhi: A day after proceedings were disrupted in the Delhi High Court and Bombay High Court after emails were received threatening of bombs being planted in the premises, there were similar threats on Saturday targeting Hotel Taj Palace and two branches of Max Hospital.
Police and Fire department officials rushed to the locations and conducted searches as per bomb threat protocols. As per preliminary findings, the threat was a hoax.
Hours later, threat emails were sent to two temples in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday evening.
Police and the bomb squad are conducting security checks at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple and Attukal Bhagavathy temple. The threat was non-specific in nature, reported ANI.
As for the Taj Palace located in Chanakyapuri, an email received in the early hours of September 13 warned that “16 bombs have been placed in the hotel.” Authorities were asked to vacate the premises by 11 am, with the email adding that “many VVIPs are in the hotel.”
Interestingly, the threat was issued from the same ID that had sent a bomb threat to Delhi High Court on Friday. “After the Delhi High Court bomb threat, Hotel Taj Palace received a bomb threat this morning via an email,” police confirmed.
“Searches were conducted as per bomb threat protocols and preliminary information suggests it was a hoax call,” officials said, adding that nothing suspicious was found on the premises.
Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh received a bomb threat early on Saturday.
Later in the day, Max Hospital in Dwarka received a similar threat. “The fire department received this call at 16:47, police and fire department team are on the spot,” Delhi Fire Service said.
Delhi Police’s Cyber Cell is probing the chain of threat emails received over the last two days.
