Bhubaneswar: To ensure transparency in dealing with traffic violators, the Odisha government has decided to abolish the manual challan system.
In a letter to the Director-General of Police (DGP), Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport, Madhu Sudan Padhi has requested him to direct the police to collect the fine from the traffic violators via the e-challan through the point of service (POS) device.
Notably, to ensure the e-challan system for the traffic violators, the state government has provided 243 POS devices to all Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and 700 devices to all police stations.
