Now, You Can Choose Time & Place Of Exam! Here’s Why

New Delhi: The Centre has proposed to constitute a national board which will conduct examinations on demand. As per this concept, a student can decide the time and place where he/she wish to sit for an exam.

The ‘on-demand testing concept’ was unveiled by Union Human Resource and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday.

The proposed board will conduct popular exams both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. However, till the time the necessary infrastructure is put in place, it can implement the concept with programmes offered through distance mode of education, media reports said.

The University Grants Commission (UGC), which has prepared the guidelines, has proposed that the exams will be open to all age groups provided they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria.

“The idea is to reduce the stress on the students as well as the pressure on the varsities which have to conduct exams for thousands of students at one go. Under this new system, students will be able to decide when they are best prepared and be able to take the test,” Hindustan Times said quoting a UGC official.

At the event, the Minister unveiled five documents addressing the issue of quality in higher education. They are:

  • Evaluation reforms
  • Eco-friendly and sustainable university campuses
  • Human values and professional ethics
  • Faculty induction
  • Academic research integrity.

Talking about the framework for eco-friendly and sustainable campus development, the Minister said it will encourage universities to adopt reflective policies and practices to enhance the environmental quality of the campus and to adopt sustainable green and sustainable methods in its future.
