Puri: A three-member team of the National Security Guard (NSG) officials will arrive in Puri on Sunday to supervise security measures for Jagannath Temple.
As informed by the district administration, the team comprising Anil Kumar, Sunil Kumar Singh and Kiran Bodhe will arrive in the evening and have a detailed review of the security measures in and outside the temple premises on Monday and Tuesday.
It may be recalled that a three-member NSG team had visited Puri on August 26 last year and inspected the security arrangements at the 12th-century shrine.
The team, during its two-hour visit, had inspected prominent places in and around the shrine and examined the functioning of CCTVs, metal detectors and the entry and exit gates. Besides, it had also reviewed the arrangements for crowd control and the ‘darshan’ of the Lords.
The team later had a meeting with the senior police officials and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
Though the state government had planned a three-tier security net at the Puri Temple, it is yet to be implemented.
Notably, the Union Home Ministry, the Odisha Police and the intelligence agencies have decided to prepare a joint action plan to strengthen security measures at sensitive locations inside the outside of all major temples in the country to deal with any possible terror strike.
