Mumbai: The Team India batting machine scaled a new peak as they amassed 397/4 in the ODI World Cup semifinal against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium here on Wednesday.
It was the highest total by any team in a knockout World Cup game, surpassing New Zealand’s 393/6 in the 2015 quarterfinal against the West Indies.
Virat Kohli’s historic 50th ODI hundred (117 off 113 balls, 9×4, 2×6) and Shreyas Iyer’s second successive ton (105 off 70 balls, 4×4, 8×6) propelled India to the record total after Rohit Sharma’s typically blazing start in which he blasted 4 fours and 4 sixes in a 29-ball 47.
