Odia Artists And Their Miniature Creations On Ganesh Puja

Bhubaneswar: Even as pomp and grandeur is missing in Ganesh Puja in the state this year due to COVID restrictions, artists have come with their unique creations to offer something new on the occasion.

L Eswar Rao

Artist L Eshwar Rao of Jatni near Bhubaneswar has created a miniature Ganesh idol of one cm height. Skilled in miniature sculptures, he has used the carbon of waste electronic products for making the idol. It took him three days to prepare the art work.

He has also made another one-inch high Ganesh idol with turmeric. It took him two days to complete the idol, said Eswar.

“I have been creating miniature sculptures for the last 25 years. During these years, I have produced 25 miniature Ganesh idols with 25 different types of materials. I always strive to do something new to capture the interest of the art lovers,” he said.

Saswat Ranjan Sahoo

Puri’s Saswat Ranjan Sahoo has created an idol of the Lord of Knowledge using 5,621 matchsticks. “It took me almost eight days to complete his creation,” he said.

The idol has a height of 23 inch and width of 22 inch.

“As an artist, I make a clay idols of Lord Ganesh every year. But this year, I have prepared this idol due to the COVID restrictions on the puja celebration,” said Saswat, a resident of Kumbharapada in Puri.
