New Taipei City: The Odia Samaja Taiwan (OST) brought the vibrant spirit of Odisha’s traditional Raja Parba to Taiwan, drawing Odia residents, families, and friends from various backgrounds to celebrate womanhood, fertility, nature, and cultural heritage.
The event, held in New Taipei City, served as both a joyful community gathering and a platform to strengthen bonds within the Odia diaspora while promoting cultural exchange between India and Taiwan.
The celebration was attended by prominent guests, including Ninad Satishchandra Deshpande, Director General of the India Taipei Association, and Bishnucharan Padhy, Vice President of RKR Infraventure Pvt Ltd and former Executive Engineer with the Odisha governmen

Deshpande underscored the vital role of culture and community organisations in building connections among Indians abroad and fostering greater understanding. Padhy encouraged participants to stay rooted in their heritage while embracing opportunities in a global context and contributing positively to society.
A highlight of the evening was the lively cultural programme featuring classical and Sambalpuri dances, instrumental performances, solo songs, and energetic group dances performed by community members of all ages. The performances showcased the richness of Odisha’s artistic traditions and the talent within the Taiwanese Odia community.
Dr Suvendu Mohapatra, President of Odia Samaja Taiwan, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, performers, volunteers, Taiwanese friends, and members of other Indian communities who participated. “The enthusiastic participation of our members, guests, and well-wishers reflects the strength of our community and our shared commitment to preserving Odisha’s rich cultural heritage. Raja Parba is a celebration of our identity, traditions, and togetherness, and we are delighted to share these values with the broader community in Taiwan,” he said.
The event wrapped up with a traditional Raja lunch featuring authentic Odia cuisine, allowing attendees to socialise and celebrate their shared roots.
