Ganjam: National-level footballer Naresh Aula passed away earlier this week while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Assam.
Unfortunately, his mortal remains could not be brought back to Odisha and his family members and well-wishers had to perform the last rites in a symbolic manner.
The 35-year-old was a resident of Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district. Naresh had represented his home state of Odisha and also Maharashtra in the Santosh Trophy. He was an employee of ONGC and played for their ONGC football team. A midfielder, he also played in the I-League during the 2012–13 season
He is survived by wife Arati and their four-year-old daughter.
