Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born IFS officer Binaya Srikanta Pradhan has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Tanzania.
He is expected to take up the assignment shortly, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
The 2002-batch officer is currently posted in the Embassy of India, Moscow, as Deputy Chief of Mission.
Pradhan did his schooling at government-run RBD High School, Angul. Before joining IFS, he did his masters from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
He served in senior positions in Indian Embassies in Moscow, Turkmenistan and Pakistan during 2004-12. Between 2012 and 2014, he looked after India’s relationship with Afghanistan and Iran from New Delhi at the MEA.
The IFS officer worked as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas from 2014-19.
