Khurda: An Odia jawan of Khurda district was killed in an encounter with
terrorists in the Baramulla sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Hemant Panda of Atharanga village under
Begunia police limits.
Reports said that security personnel had an encounter in the Baramulla sector near
the Indo-Pak border in the morning in which two terrorists were killed. However,
Panda succumbed to his injuries during the crossfire.
Family sources said that Panda had joined the Indian Army in 2017 and was posted
in the Baramulla sector. The body of the martyr is expected to reach his native
village on Sunday.
