Berhampur: A military officer of Ganjam district, posted in Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in a road accident in the city on Friday.
According to family sources, the mishap took place when military officer Sagar Kumar Satpathy was going to his in-law’s house at Digapada Sasan village on a bike to meet his three-month pregnant wife.
An unidentified vehicle hit Sagar’s bike from behind at Nua Palli Square near Bhatakumarada and the officer sustained injury on his head. The locals rushed him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. But he succumbed on the way.
His body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem. The villagers and family members took the body in a procession to cremation ground to perform the last rites of the 31-year-old military officer, the sources said.
Sagar, who had got married six months back, had come to his native Krushna Chandra Nagaradiha village under Chamakhandi police station from Jammu and Kashmir on leave on Thursday.
