Bhubaneswar: Thousands of people lost their jobs and livelihood during the COVID-19 lockdown. Some families were devastated and millions of migrant workers faced hardships, both physically as well as financially.
Ollywood movie ‘Lagaam’ depicts the plight of migrant workers and their punishing journey from cities to villages.
Story and dialogues of the movie have been written by Ranjit Kumar Sahoo who is also the producer.
Director Pinu Nayak said, the movie has suspense, drama, love and comedy. Speaking to OdishaBytes Nayak said, “Lagaam tells under what circumstances a man was forced to leave his village to labour as a migrant worker in another state and how then the lockdown forced his return by walking long distances. It also talks about the reaction of villagers to the returned migrant workers.”
Ollywood actors Amlan and Tamanna are playing lead roles while other star casts are Harihara Mohapatra, Babi Mishra, Pradyumna Lenka, Umakanta Muduli, Prithiviraj, Acharya Kamal, Leena, Bhavna, Nikhilesh Ghosh, Rashmi Padhi and Radheshyam Mishra.
The songs have been written by Janmejaya Panda and Tapu Nayak. Abhijit Majumdar is the music director. Shooting of the movie is underway and will be released soon, said sources.
