Bhubaneswar: As Abhijit Majumdar’s condition deteriorated on Saturday, the popular Odia music composer had to be taken back to the intensive care unit (ICU) at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.
“Majumdar’s condition worsened in last 24 hours, requiring mechanical ventilation support and vasopressors to maintain his hemodynamics. He was shifted to the medical ICU again today morning as he is requiring more intensive care and monitoring,” an AIIMS-Bhubaneswar statement said.
There is no improvement of Majumdar’s neurological status and he is in comatose state, the bulletin added.
The 54-year-old Majumdar has been undergoing treatment for multiple comorbid conditions at the AIIMS here since September 4.
He had been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack on August 31, after complaining of some health complications. He was later shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of another private health facility in the Silver City. The music composer was then referred to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on September 4.
Majumdar was admitted to the ICU of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar with complications such as osmotic demyelination syndrome, bilateral pneumonia, blood stream infection and chronic liver disease.
About three weeks later, he was shifted to the Medicine ward after being taken out of ventilator support.
Now, his condition has taken a downswing again, necessitating a shift back to ICU and ventilation support.
