Bhubaneswar: The post-mortem report of Odia student Shreyas
Kesharwani, who allegedly died due to ragging at Visakhapatnam-based
Sri Chaitanya College hostel, revealed that contusion in heart &
pulmonary effusion resulted in his death.
According to Capital Hospital Director Chhittaranjan Das, it was found
that there was a pulmonary effusion and blood clot inside the victim’s
lungs. Such an injury can only occur due to a severe pressure on
chest.
Meanwhile, a team of Visakhapatnam police have started investigation
into the case after reaching Odisha and interacted the doctors here.
On January 6, the +2 student died while undergoing treatment at a
private hospital in Rourkela after allegedly ragged by his classmates.
The student was critically injured allegedly beaten up by three to
four students of the educational institution inside Prashanti boys’
hostel earlier on December 26.
Though the victim brought the incident to the notice of the college
authorities, they failed to take any action in this regard. Following
which, the student informed his family members regarding the matter
and he was brought back to Rourkela for treatment.
On January 7, local people of Garposh village in Sambalpur district
had called a bandh protesting the student’s death. They had demanded
action against the college authorities and a compensation of Rs 1
crore to the victim’s family.
