Odia Woman’s Suicide In Bengaluru: Police Arrest Husband
Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday arrested Ratikant Rath, the husband of Barsha Priyadarshini Mishra, a senior executive of Biocon Ltd, who allegedly committed suicide in her Vakil Magnolia Apartments in Bengaluru. Rath was forwarded to the court.
The police conducted the cremation of the deceased after a post-mortem. Action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report, said the police.
While the sister-in-law of the deceased is absconding, police are interrogating the father and mother-in-law. They have handed over the ATM card, other articles and the three-year-old son of Barsha to her family members.
Barsha’s family members have alleged that her in-laws are trying to hush up the case as a case of suicide. Talking to the media, Barsha’s mother, Aratibala Mishra said her son-in-law had informed that her daughter committed suicide after hanging herself with a scarf on December 20. We rushed to Bengaluru after the phone call. “My daughter took the extreme step as she could not bear the mental torture by her in-laws . We don’t know whether my daughter was killed or she committed suicide. If she has committed suicide, her in-laws are responsible for her death. The police must take stern action against them,” she added.
Meanwhile, Barsha’s younger sister, Suchismita told the media that her sister had called her a few days before her death saying that she has sustained a severe head injury after her in-laws thrashed her. “My sister asked me to take care of her son as she is not going to survive,” she added.
Refuting the allegations, Barsha’s mother-in-law, Pushpanjali Rath said her daughter-in-law used to threaten that she would commit suicide. Whenever she was agitated, she used to close the door of her room and threaten us. She would open the door after calming down. She did the same thing on December 20. Despite our repeated requests, she did not open the door. There was no disturbance in the family and the allegation that she has been killed is utterly false and baseless,” she maintained.
A native of Ambali village under Konark police limits in Puri district, Barsha had married Ratikant four yeas back.
