Baripada: The authorities of the sub-jail at Udala in Mayurbhanj district sanitized the entire prison premises on Monday, a day after 21 under-trial prisoners tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
Jailor Dhaneswar Sahu said the swab samples of 76 prisoners were sent for testing. Of these, 21 came out positive.
He said the infected prisoners were kept in isolation in a separate cell. A team of doctors are engaged to monitor their health at regular intervals.
Sahu also said the other inmates and jail staff who had come in contact with the infected inmates will undergo tests for COVID-19.
