Odisha: 50 More Beds For SVNIRTAR Soon
Cuttack: The central government has approved an increase in the bed capacity of Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) at Olatpur to 150 after taking the current workload into consideration.
SVNIRTAR, established for treatment and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in 1975, remains overcrowded round the year with the flow of patients having increased manifold in the last four decades.
“A building being constructed with funds granted by Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (RECL) is nearing completion and will be made operational by July end,” said SVNIRTAR officiating Director Dr Patitapaban Mohanty.
He further said that the bed strength of the indoor service would be further enhanced to 200 before the hospital celebrates its golden jubilee in 2025.
