Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is tracing the contacts and ascertaining the travel history of the state’s fifth COVID-19 patient, who is a resident of the posh Surya Nagar area here.
“A team is working to find out those who came in contact with the fifth patient undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar,” Director, Medical Education and Training, Dr C B K Mohanty told journalists.
Some of the patient’s family members have been quarantined, sources said. The government is expected to share more information related to the case later in the day.
Late on Wednesday evening, the state Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department, in a tweet, confirmed that a 60-year-old resident of Surya Nagar here had tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number of such patients in Odisha to five. One of them has been discharged.
What is worrisome is that the latest patient has multiple co-morbid conditions.
According to the latest figures released by the state Health and Family Welfare department, 900 people, including 290 on Wednesday, had been tested in Odisha.
