Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday revealed that 77 per cent (11,188 of 14,485) COVID patients are in home isolation.
This comes a day after the Centre expressed concern over rising COVID cases in 10 ‘hotspot’ states, including Odisha, and mentioned about 80 per cent active cases being in home isolation in these states.
The Health Ministry, in a statement, said there is a need to effectively and strictly monitor these cases so that they do not meet other people and spread the infection.

Health expert Dr Niroj Mishra said that the Odisha government should conduct house surveillance in view of the possible third wave of the pandemic.
He also expressed concern over the decline in daily recoveries to the number of new positive cases in the state and stressed micro-containment measures to contain the daily caseload.
“If a person gets infected, the entire family contracts the virus. In such a case, the entire surrounding should be tagged as a micro-containment zone to check the spread of infection,” he added.
On further relaxation in the partial lockdown in the state, he said that the restrictions on cinema halls and open-air theatres should have continued as there is a possibility of the violation of COVID-19 protocols at these places.
