Odisha ACF’s Death: Family Seeks HC-Monitored SIT & CBI Probe

Bhubaneswar: Taking strong exception to the tardy investigation by police into the death of assistant conservator of forests (ACF) Ranjan Mohapatra, the family members on Wednesday requested the Chief Minister for High Court-monitored SIT and CBI probe.

The maternal brother of Panda submitted the application in the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell.

Talking to mediapersons, Panda’s mother Tulasi Mohapatra said although her son was a government employee and holding a respectable post, the state government has not shown any urgency to provide justice to his family till date.

Talking about the investigation, she said there is no seriousness on the part of police as there is pressure to shield the prime accused.

“As we have lost faith in the police, we have come to the Chief Minister grievances redressal cell seeking justice. If we fail here, we would prefer to commit suicide instead of spending the rest of our lives shedding tears,” she added.

Yesterday, a four-member team of Paralakhemundi Town Police station led by IIC Bibekanand had grilled Panda’s wife Bidyabharati at her native village, Gaudagan in Kaptipada block in Mayurbhanj district.

Before returning to Paralakhemundi, the IIC said police will grill Dibakar Mohapatra, the driver, who had taken Bidyabharati’s parents to Paralakhemundi on July 13, hours after Soumya Ranjan was burnt.
