Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government-run Adarsha model schools will have a dedicated portal from January next year, providing comprehensive information about every school and the year-round activities on the campuses.
The schools will also be connected through a robust ERP software solution for centralised monitoring of academic and administrative activities, ensuring efficiency and improved learning outcome.
“The website will help parents monitor the academic activities and other events in the schools, thereby maintain transparency. The software solution will help us monitor every teacher and student, analyse performance at the state, district as well as at the block level,” advisor to the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) Bijaya Kumar Sahoo said.
Fulfilling the 5T mission objective…
Talking to Odisha Bytes, he said with the technological integration, the Sangathan would head in the direction of fulfilling the 5T agenda of the Odisha Government. “Time is a major component of the 5T initiative, so also for Adarsha schools. Students and teachers are required to reach schools on time. We are embracing technology in a big way and with the launch of the website, we will ensure transparency where parents can know what is happening in the school,” he said.
With the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the Sangathan can not only micromanage and monitor the developments but also offer strategic interventions if a particular block or district is not faring well in a particular subject. The system will provide data about lessons taught in class, teacher’s activities and whether a student is taking the lessons seriously, Sahoo elaborated.
About ERP system:
It is a software that manages the business processes of an organisation, in this case schools, effectively and efficiently. It has proved its worth in the school ecosystem worldwide with regards to handling admissions, fee receipts, fee management, timetable creation etc. As the entire system is automated, school and management systems become more simplified and fast.
Adarsha model schools at a glance:
Student strength (present): 60,000
Targeted student strength: 2.40 lakh
Schools functioning right now: 214
New schools coming up by next year: 34
Schools upgraded up to higher secondary level: 30

Smart classroom:
Every school will have a smart classroom and access to live streaming of lectures, Sahoo informed, adding that the necessary infrastructure would be up and running by this time next year.
“While the schools are at the block level, it may not be feasible to have well-known academicians and inspirational speakers at all corners. Therefore, we can have a mini-studio here, where these people can come and deliver lectures, with the feed being broadcast live,” he said.
