Odisha Logs 11K Plus COVID Cases For 2nd Day, 4347 From Khurda; TPR Nears 17%;
Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a slight rise in COVID caseload on Wednesday as 11,607 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. Among them, 991 are in the age group of 0-18 years.
The state had added 11,086 fresh COVID-19 cases to its affected tally on Tuesday and 10,489 cases the day before, a slight drop from 11,177 on Sunday.
According to the I & PR department, 6,728 of the new cases are from quarantine and 4,879 local contacts. Khurda district tops the tally with 4,347 new infections followed by Sundargarh (1,219) and Cuttack (898).

With these cases being detected from 69,502 samples, the test positivity rate rose to 16.7 per cent, which is higher than the national positivity rate of 15.13 per cent.
The state had reported a TPR of 15.61 per cent the previous day, 14.95 per cent on Monday and 16.28 per cent on Sunday.
Odisha now has 84,770 active cases. The number of districts in the RED zone in terms of active cases has also dropped to five. While Khurda, Sundargarh, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Balasore continue to remain COVID hotspots, Mayurbhanj is now in the ORANGE zone with less than 2500 active cases.
