Bhubaneswar: Defying the Balasore administration’s prohibitory orders in Bhograi, the West Bengal government resumed unauthorised construction works in the disputed area on the Udaipur beach on Tuesday.
Some locals spotted the workers and informed the local authorities. The Bhogarai Tehsildar Kamalakanta Panda and Udaipur-Talasari Marine IIC Sujata Mallick rushed to the spot and stopped the unauthorised construction work. Earlier, both sides agreed to maintain the status quo in the disputed area.
It may be recalled that the Balasore local administration had halted the unauthorised construction of a boundary wall by the West Bengal government in the same area on September 8.
According to reports, a watchtower and boundary wall on the famous Udayapur Beach collapsed on May 25 after Cyclone Yaas ravaged Odisha and parts of West Bengal.
