Bhubaneswar: Two Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre (HPC) trainees excelled at the 69th National School Games in Rajasthan, helping Odisha U-14 boys’ team finish runner-up.
HPC athletes Aditya Das and Subham Subhrajit Dalai, integral members of the Odisha squad, produced consistent performances to contribute significantly to the state team’s strong campaign and podium finish.
In a hard-fought final, Odisha went down 19-23 against hosts Rajasthan.
“This runner-up finish reflects the growing strength of grassroots Kho Kho in Odisha. Aditya and Subham have shown remarkable discipline, learning ability and mental toughness at such a young age,” said Sanjeev Sharma, head coach of Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho HPC.
The HPC, a collaborative initiative between ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) and the Odisha government, nurtures kho kho talent in the state. The state government, which has built the HPC, maintains the infrastructure, while AM/NS India operates and manages the centre, and trains the players. It also coaches and develops judges for the sport.
