Odisha Assembly Adjourned Amid Oppn Din
Bhubaneswar: The second day of the budget session of the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday was adjourned till Wednesday following uproarious scenes by the opposition Congress and BJP members.
As soon as the session of the House began, BJD member and Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh brought a condolence motion on the demise of senior Congress leader Harihar Karan, who had breathed his last at Apollo Hospitals on Monday.
Admitting the motion, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat requested the members to observe a one-minute silence.
However, trouble started soon after the condolence when the Speaker announced the commencement of the question hour.
While the Congress members rushed to the well of the House demanding cancellation of the Question Hour and discussion on the farmers’ problems, the BJP members demanded a discussion on the chit fund scam and accused the BJD government of lending ‘indirect’ support to Trinamool Congress of Mamata Banerjee.
Unable to run the house proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House for one hour till 11.30 AM.
As pandemonium continued to prevail during the zero hour with the opposition members stuck to their demands, the Speaker adjourned the house for the day.
