Odisha Assembly Adjourned Amid Opposition Uproar
Bhubaneswar: Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat on Monday adjourned the Odisha Assembly till 11.30 am on Monday following uproar by the Congress members.
As soon as the House session began at 10.30 am, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the condolence motion over the demise eminent freedom fighter, senior Congress leader and former minister Dolagobinda Pradhan, who passed away at his residence in the Odisha capital at the age of 93.
After the condolence message of the Chief Minister, leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra and the Speaker mourned the death of Pradhan. The House later observed a one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Pandemonium prevailed in the House as soon as the Speaker ordered to begin the Question Hour session. The Congress members, led by the Opposition chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati, rushed to the podium of the Speaker in the well of the House demanding a CBI probe into the massive scam in the sapling plantation in Mayurbhanj district.
Unable to conduct the proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House till 11.30 am.
Earlier in the day, the seat of Dr Damodar Rout was shifted from D-3 to the F-10 in the Assembly following his expulsion from the BJD.
