Odisha Assembly Adjourned Twice Amid Uproar; Congress Blames BJD & BJP For Disruption
Bhubaneswar: As the Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm on Tuesday amid uproar, Congress alleged that ruling BJP and main opposition BJD stopped the House from functioning in a planned manner to avoid discussion on important issues.
The Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm after witnessing uproarious scenes with the members of the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) creating ruckus.
Lamenting disruption in Assembly proceedings, senior Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati told reporters outside the House that both BJP and BJD ensured adjournment as part of a plan to prevent discussion in important issues.
He said the House would have discussed important issues relating to rural development, roads and unemployment situation apart from an adjournment motion.
In order to avoid discussion, BJP and BJD chalked out a plan to stall the House proceedings and push for adjournment, the Congress legislator alleged.
Stating that the people of Odisha should know whether these two political parties have done anything for Odia Asmita (pride), Bahinipati said Congress wanted discussion on the issue but BJP and BJD sought to escape this.
Earlier, the House witnessed ruckus occurred over BJD demanding action against the Governor’s son for assaulting an Assistant Section Officer (ASO). Earlier, opposition members created a ruckus in the House which led to a clash with the ruling Party members. \
Unable to conduct business because of pandemonium, Speaker Surama Padhy first adjourned the House till 11.30 am. As similar situation prevailed after the House reassembled, the proceedings were again adjourned till 4 pm.
