Bhubaneswar: An assistant collector of Jagatsinghpur district, Umesh Chandra Lenka, has been suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a woman employee engaged in the district collectorate.
According to sources, the incident allegedly occurred on April 10. Following which, the woman filed a complaint, accusing Lenka of physical and mental harassment. The District Grievance Committee investigated the matter and the report was later submitted to the government.
On the basis of the findings, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari ordered for suspension of Lenkan and also directed a departmental investigation into the incident.
Pujari further asserted the Mohan Majhi government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence or abuse against women.
