Bhubaneswar: Plastic water bottles, cups and plates will not be used in Odisha government offices and meetings, according to a directive from the General Administration Department.
Likewise, plastic folders, files, banners and posters will also be banned in meetings and offices, the department said on Tuesday.
The directive followed the Odisha government’s decision to completely ban single-use plastic items in the state from October 2.
Earlier, Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha had said the government’s decision was in line with the Prime Minister’s announcement in his Independence Day speech this year.
