Odisha BDO, IIC Booked For Selling Seized Cashew At Throwaway Prices

Paralakhemundi: Mohana Block Development Officer (BDO) Bansidhar Khosla along with five others, including the IIC of Aadaba police station in Odisha’s Gajapati district, have been booked for allegedly selling seized cashew at low prices.

Sub-inspector Jagdal, who was investigating the case, has also been suspended.

According to sources, Jagdal had told the court that 17 tonnes cashew seized from a truck near Mandimera under Udaba police limits in Gajapati district on August 4 were raw and sold out for Rs 14 lakh in the presence of the BDO, Supply Inspector Shankar Behera and police inspector in charge Tapan Kumar Pati.

They are accused of selling the cashew through a faulty public auction.

Along with cashews, three quintals of Ganja were also seized from the truck and two persons arrested in this connection.
