Bhubaneswar: Hitting out at Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, newly-appointed Congress state in-charge Ajoy Kumar on Saturday claiming that the state is being run by political outsiders and the people want them to be thrown out.
Soon after his arrival in Bhubaneswar on his maiden visit to Odisha as the the party’s state in-charge, Kumar was accorded a grand welcome by a large number of Congress leaders and workers at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).
From the airport, Kumar proceeded to Congress Bhavan in a grand procession through Hospital Square, Sishu Bhawan Square, Rajmahal Square and Master Canteen Square. An impressive bike rally was organised by the party. A rousing welcome ceremony was held at the state Congress headquarters.
Emphasising the need to uphold the pride of the people of the state, he said the aim is to establish the policy of ‘for Odia, by Odia and of Odia … no outsiders.”
Alleging that people from outside the state have captured important jobs, mining operations and politics, the senior Congress leader claimed that Odisha is virtually being run by political outsiders who must be ousted in order to uphold Odia pride and save the state. People of Odisha want that the affairs of the state should be run by those from the state, he said.
Coming down heavily on BJP and BJD, Kumar claimed that the saffron party and the regional outfit are together. The fact that there has been no raid by CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Odisha amply proves that both BJD and BJP are operating together, he claimed.
Asserting that the people of Odisha like Congress, he said the party needs to realise its strength in the state.
