Bhadrak: Bhadrak Women’s College in Odisha has been closed for an indefinite period following tension and unrest among different groups of students over the cancellation of the students’ union election in the institution.
According to a notification issued by the office of the college principal, peaceful academic atmosphere in the college campus has been vitiated due to agitation by various student groups following the cancellation of union election.
In view of this, the authorities have decided to keep the college closed from October 10 until further orders.
During this period, all administrative work, except teaching, classwork and essential services, will remain suspended.
Students have been advised to maintain peace and to check the college’s official WhatsApp group and notice board for information regarding reopening. The closure will remain in force until further orders are issued, the notification stated.
It may be noted that student union elections are scheduled to be held in colleges and universities in Odisha on October 15. While nomination by candidates and scrutiny of papers were held on Friday, withdrawal of candidature is slated for Saturday.
