Bhubaneswar: Amid intense tussle in the regional outfit after its debacle in the last elections, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is stated to have received a fresh jolt with another leader quitting the party.
Sources said Bijayalaxmi Mohapatra, BJD’s organisational district president of Bhubaneswar unit, resigned from the party claiming that she was humiliated.
Claiming that BJD has deviated from its principles and ideology, she described a show-cause notice issued by the party as humiliating.
Terming the show-cause notice issued by the party as ‘completely undemocratic’, Mohapatra accused senior leaders, including V K Pandian and Manas Mangaraj, of humiliating her.
She said she had resigned from the primary membership of the party and a letter in this regard has been sent to party president Naveen Patnaik.
Recently, senior leader Amar Satpathy distanced himself from the party stating that he is not associated with BJD any longer.
