Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is sitting on a time bomb, which may explode any time, said Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev on Friday.
Speaking to media persons here, Jagdev took potshot at the BJD for the claim of its organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das that 10,000 aspirants had applied for BJD tickets for the Assembly elections in Odisha.
Jagdev, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being expelled by BJD for anti-party activities, said those aspirants are, in fact, ticking bombs which will blow up on the face of the ruling party.
Claiming that the BJD was facing intense internal strife, the BJP leader said, “Resentment is brewing among the BJD leaders in almost every constituency. It may boil over and drown the party any time. It is just a matter of time.”
On possible alliance between the two parties, the MLA dismissed it as a gimmick of the BJD to divert the people’s attention from its failures. “On the other hand, the BJP does not need any party’s support now. It has strengthened its position and the voters want a change in power in 2024,” the MLA said.
