Bhubaneswar: Members of the Odisha unit of the BJP observed a day-long fast on Thursday to protest the alleged disruption of Parliament’s budget session.
As a part of the nation-wide hunger strike, the saffron members including party’s national vice president Om Prakash Mathur, Prithviraj Harichandan, KV Singhdeo and Sameer Mohanty staged a dharna at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Park near the state party headquarters here.
Taking a dig at the Congress for allegedly creating frequent disturbances in the Houses, party leader Prithviraj Harichandan said, “Theu have been obstructing the proceedings of the Parliament’s budget session by not allowing debates and discussion on several important issues.”
Similarly, Union Minister Jual Oram sat on a dharna in front of the DRDA office in Sundargarh as a mark of the nationwide protest.
Separate hunger strikes were also organised across all the district headquarters of the state.
This is part of the nationwide hunger strike call by the BJP, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national President Amit Shah are also participating.
