Odisha BJP Team Meets Home Secy, Demands Transfer Of 2 IPS Officers
Bhubaneswar: A BJP delegation on Wednesday met principal secretary, Home, Asit Kumar Tripathy at the State Secretariat here and demanded immediate transfer of two senior IPS officers.
The delegation, led by BJP State President Basanta Panda, alleged that wo officers—IG, Southern Range, Amitabh Thakur and DIG, Southern Range, Asish Kumar Singh—were working at the behest of the BJD and targeting the opposition party leaders and workers by framing false charges against them.
The delegation also said that while the Election Commission, in its guidelines, had clearly mentioned that no officer can be posted at one place for three consecutive years, these two officers have been continuing at their present place of posting for more than three years now and are yet to be transferred by the state government.
“We drew the attention of the Home Secretary and urged him to effect the immediate transfer of these two officers to ensure free and fair elections,” BJP State President Basanta Panda told mediapersons.
The other members of the delegation were KV Singhdeo, Manmohan Samal, Samir Mohanty, Lekhashree Samantsinghar, Dilip Mohanty and Pitambara Acharya.
