Bhubaneswar: Sweta Mohanty, originally from Odisha, has been recently recognized for her exceptional contributions to community service at the prestigious Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London. She received the IIW She Inspires Award 2025 in the Community Service category—an honour that highlights trailblazing women leaders who are driving change across sectors like education, business, leadership, and social impact.
The award, hosted by Inspiring Indian Women (IIW), celebrated dynamic women making tangible differences in their communities. Sweta was lauded for her impactful work with the Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre UK and the Odisha Society of UK (OSUK). Through her initiatives, she has been instrumental in promoting India-UK relations, using research, cultural diplomacy, and social media engagement to bring communities closer.
“For the past six years, I have focused on grassroots connections between India and the UK,” said Sweta during her acceptance speech. “From organizing the first-ever Bali Jatra celebrations in the UK to advocating for balanced narratives on Jammu and Kashmir, my aim has been to foster understanding and empower future generations.”
The event, held on March 24 and 25, was hosted by MP Bob Blackman CBE, Padmashree, and MP Joy Morrissey, and was attended by dignitaries such as Lord Meghnad Desai (Padma Bhushan), former MP Theresa Villiers, Mayor Cllr Salim Chowdhury (Mayor of Harrow), Mayor Cllr Pherina Bhardwaj (Mayor of Gerrards Cross), and Ajay Kumar Thakur, Head of BSE SME and Startup Exchange.
The distinguished jury panel included names like Padmashree Dr. Soma Ghosh, Mira Misra Kaushik OBE, Natasha Hart MBE, and Naomi Canton, UK correspondent for the Times of India.
