Odisha Braces For More Rains As Low Pressure May Turn Into Depression In 48 Hrs
Bhubaneswar: A Low-Pressure area has formed over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
“Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood, a Low-Pressure area formed over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood last night and lay over the same region at 5.30 am,” it said.
It is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over coastal West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours, it added.
The weather agency has warned of isolated very heavy rainfall in Odisha on September 13-14 and heavy rainfall from September 13 to 15.

Orange Warning
Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm with lightning may continue at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
Yellow Warning
Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning is also likely at isolated places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Jajpur, Bargarh, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Balasore and Bhadrak.
September 14
Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar,Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sundargarh.
WIND WARNING
Due to strong monsoon current, squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph very likely during September 13-15 over North Bay of Bengal, along and off Odisha coast.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into North Bay of Bengal; along & off Odisha coast during this period.
The IMD has also warned of temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas and underpass road. Poor visibility during intense spell of rain and traffic congestion in urban areas. Some damages to unmetalled roads, kutcha houses and vegetables and horticultural crops. Mudslides/landslides in vulnerable hilly areas are also likely.
