Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik is likely to visit Padampur on December 2 to campaign for the party candidate for the by-election to the Assembly constituency.
Naveen is slated address public gatherings at Paikmal, Jharabandha and Padampur as part of the campaigning for the bypoll, BJD MLA Debesh Acharya reportedly said.
During his whirlwind campaign, the BJD chief is likely to hold roadshows to seek votes for party candidate Barsha Singh Bariha.
It may be noted here that Naveen had addressed virtual rallies for the last five Assembly by-elections held since 2019 instead of visiting the constituencies.
The Chief Minister had last visited Bijepur Assembly constituency to campaign for party candidate Rita Sahu in the by-election held in 2019.
Naveen’s move to visit Padampur in Bargarh district for campaigning assumes significance as it comes in the wake of BJD’s defeat in Dhamnagar Assembly by-election held recently.
The by-election in Padampur is scheduled to be held on December 5 following the demise of sitting BJD legislator Bijayranjan Singh Bariha. The ruling BJD has fielded his daughter Barsha for the bypoll.
