Odisha Cabinet Approves 7 Proposals Including Kamdhenu Yojana

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Saturday approved seven proposals of six departments on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Minister of Works, Law & Excise Prithviraj Harichandan said the Cabinet decisions included the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana. The scheme aims at increasing the milk production in the state and raising the income of 15,47,837 dairy farmers.

Under the scheme, the state government would bear 85% of the insurance cover of the cattle while the rest 15% will be paid by the owners. It will be implemented for five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29 financial year with a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,423.47 crore.

The scheme will have eight sub-schemes including Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development, Go-Palan Yojana, Go-Sampad Bima Yojana, Calf Rearing Scheme, Incentive to Dairy Farmers, Strengthening of Dairy Organisation, Support to OMFED and Feed & Fodder production scheme.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal to amend the Odisha Public Distribution System (Control) Act, 2016. The amendment will allow the government to extend the deadline for replacing private dealers with institutional dealers under the PDS scheme till March 31, 2026.

Following are other major decisions taken by the Cabinet:

  • Amendment of the Odisha Superior Judicial Service and Odisha Judicial Service Rules, 2007
  • Revision of the fees of the Advocate General of Odisha for his appearance in the High Court, Supreme Court and other authorities & tribunals
  • Construction of 550 residential quarters with community hall and playground for the employees and officials of Orissa High Court. The residential quarters will come up on 10 acre at CDA Sector-13 in Cuttack.

Minister of Panchayati raj, Drinking Water & Rural Development Rabi Narayan Naik was also present in the press meet.
