Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has given the green light to a significant redevelopment initiative for Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla in Sambalpur district.
The approved proposal, submitted by the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, covers Phase-I, Package-I of the turnkey redevelopment project titled “Redevelopment of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, Sambalpur”.

ng years.”
Key components of the project include construction of new academic blocks, advanced laboratories, hostels, utility services, student amenities, and overall campus site development. “The project will be executed in turnkey mode covering detailed design, engineering, construction, and one-year of operation and maintenance.”
It aims to transform the state’s oldest engineering institution into a state-of-the-art hub for technical education, research, and innovation. “The redevelopment envisages to transform VSSUT, Burla, Sambalpur into a premier technical education and research hub of national standard, enhancing capacity, academic delivery, and student facilities while supporting Odisha’s long-term vision for quality technical education and skilled manpower development.”
The Cabinet has approved the project with a total outlay of Rs 7929.96 crore, which covers construction as well as one year of operation and maintenance. NCC Ltd. has been selected as the lowest bidder for execution of the project, an official release said.
