Odisha Cabinet Nod For Medical College In Phulbani District

Bhubaneswar: The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to set up a medical college in Phulbani and a teaching hospital in Koraput district. The medical college at Phulbani will have 100 seats while the and teaching hospital at Koraput will have 650 beds.

The Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took 12 major decisions on the day. Out of these, one related to Energy department, one to Skill Dev and Technical Education, two to Water Resource, two to Agriculture and Farmer’s Empowerment, one to Finance, one to Home, two to Panchyati Raj and Drinking Water, one to Works and one related to Parliamentary department.

Following are major decisions taken by the Cabinet:

– A rural piped drinking water supply project under one package to provide drinking water in Bargarh district out of BASUDHA (RIDF) funding. The project will help people of 43 panchayats of two blocks in the district.

– Settlement of arrear electricity dues of government departments till March 31, 2020. This will clear the arrear EDs outstanding against government offices and departments enabling payment of current dues in time.
  • Conversion of convertible bonds of Rs 200 crore and non-convertible bonds of Rs.200 crore including interest accrued thereon to equity investment of government in OPTCL. This will increase the equity capital investment of government in OPTCL thereby reducing the interest burden of
    OPTCL.
  • The cadre of Odisha Engineering Service has been restructured by keeping the total cadre strength intact, abolishing the post of Deputy Executive Engineer (DEE), merging the post of Superintending Engineer, Level-II and Level-I has been merged and designated as Superintending Engineer in pay Level -14. A new post of Additional Chief Engineer in pay level-16 between SE and CE created, the posts of AEE to be filled up by AE of Odisha Diploma Engineering Service increased from 33% to 40%.
  • Further to bring in meritorious degree engineers to the Odisha Engineering service with utmost transparency and a strict time schedule under direct recruitment quota, it is decided to recruit through the score in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
  • Keeping in view the above, the existing cadre Rules, Odisha Engineering Service (Methods of recruitment and conditions of service) Rules, 2012 to be replaced by a new set of rules having relevant provisions amended accordingly.

Minister Forest & Environment and Parliamentary Affairs Bikram Keshari Arukha, chief secretary Asit Tripathy, principal secretary Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, principal secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena briefed the press after the meeting.
