Bhubaneswar: With normalcy returning to Sambalpur, collector Ananya Das tied the nuptial knot with fellow IAS officer Chanchal Rana at a hotel in Guwahati on Monday.
Rana, a 2014-batch IAS officer, is currently serving as Balangir collector. He joined the dancing baaratis as the procession neared the wedding venue amid fireworks last night. Family members, relatives and close friends attended the event and wished the newly married couple.
The duo had exchanged rings on February 19 in the presence of family members and close relatives at Das’ official residence in Sambalpur. This is second wedding for both Das and Rana. Earlier, Das had married IAS Officer Abdaal M. Akhtar, who is now posted as the Collector of Koraput. Similarly, Rana happens to be ex-husband of Rayagada Collector Swadha Dev Singh.
Das, a 2015-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, hails from Assam. After getting married to Odisha-cadre IAS officer Akhtar, she was allowed to change her cadre. Prior to her appointment as the Sambalpur Collector, she was the Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
Rana is an alumnus of NIT Silchar. He ranked seventh in the civil services exam. He hails from Nalco Nagar in Angul district.
