Odisha Capital Receives 253 MM Rainfall In Two Days!

Bhubaneswar: While the low-pressure has triggered heavy rainfall in Odisha, the state capital has received a whopping 253 mm rainfall in the last two days.

This was informed by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and principal secretary Pradip Jena here on Friday.

Referring to the district-wise data of India Meteorological Department (IMD), he said eight of the 30 districts have received more than 100 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am this morning.

Of the eight districts, Bhadrak has received highest rainfall at 152 mm followed by Puri (134.9), Cuttack (130.5), Balasore (127.8), Jajpur (127.8), Khurda (116.8), Kendrapara (104.6) and Jagatsinghpur (100.1), he added.

In the block-wise rainfall, 46 blocks have received more than 100 mm rainfall. Binjharpur block in Jajpur district received the highest rainfall at 239 mm.

The SRC further said that the national weather agency has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall with an orange warning for some isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts and heavy rainfall with a yellow warning in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts in the next 24 hours on Saturday.

However, the weather condition will improve from Saturday evening, he added.
