Odisha Cares: 15% Beds To Be Reserved For Children In COVID Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to reserve 15 per cent of beds in COVID hospitals for children who are getting infected during the second wave of the pandemic.

One of the parents will be allowed to stay with the COVID-affected kid as an attendant in the hospital, according to a government release.

The Additional Chief Secretary (Health Department), Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, informed this in a letter to all the District Collectors, Municipality Commissioners, Government Medical Colleges and Sishu Bhawan on Saturday.

“We have to plan for the coming days. There will be a ‘Pediatric Covid Wing’ in the COVID hospitals. 15 per cent of beds in the Isolation ward, COVID Hospitals, HDU and ICUs may be kept reserved for the neonates, infants and other kids. As per the situation in the future, it can be increased,” wrote Mohapatra.
