Bhubaneswar: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, has issued a public advisory warning citizens about a fake website impersonating its official portal.
In a press note, the CEO’s office stated that an unauthorised website, www.ceoodisha.com, has been created by an unknown individual. This site is illegally mimicking the authentic official website, https://ceoodisha.nic.in, and is spreading misleading and inaccurate information to the public.
Preliminary inquiry confirmed that the fraudulent site attempts to replicate the official platform’s design and content, potentially confusing voters seeking election-related services such as voter list verification, applications, or updates.
The press note clarified: “The only official website of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha is https://ceoodisha.nic.in.”
It urged the general public, media organisations, and all stakeholders to avoid relying on or interacting with any other site claiming to represent the CEO’s office.
The warning comes at a critical time, with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll 2026 set to begin shortly. This is a comprehensive voter list revision designed to update and purify electoral rolls by verifying voter details, removing duplicates or ineligible entries, and ensuring accuracy ahead of future elections.
Officials said that misinformation during this period could lead to confusion among electors, disrupt the revision process, and undermine public trust in the electoral system.
The CEO’s office has appealed to citizens to stay vigilant and verify all election-related information through official channels. Any suspicious or misleading content should be immediately reported to the office of the CEO, it added.
