Bhubaneswar: The Youth for Nation (Y4N) platform will go a long way in encouraging youngsters to excel in various fields and help inculcate the spirit of nationalism in them, Governor Raghubar Das said at the inaugural function of the Odisha chapter at SOA Deemed to be University here on Monday.
“The youth today are closely linked to the country’s development and have been proving their mettle in different spheres on the global stage,” said Das, who was the chief guest.
Highlighting the fact that India is the world’s youngest country with an average age of 29 years, Das said 65% of India’s population was below the age of 35.
Among others who attended the programme were former IIT-Kharagpur Director and President of Odisha chapter of Y4N Prof. Damodar Acharya, former Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Technical University and Working President of Y4N Prof. Durg Singh Chauhan, National Coordinator of Y4N Commander VK Jaitly, SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Y4N Secretary Arvind Tripathi and SOA Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das.
The Odisha Governor released a book titled ‘100 Great IITians’, edited by Commander Jaitly on the occasion.
Commander Jaitly said the book focused on eminent IITians like Nandan Nilekani, Narayana Murthy, Damodar Acharya and Gopal Chandra Mitra who chose to serve their motherland without getting lured by lucrative careers abroad.
